Biography

Zeba was a son of Gideon Stetson and Hannah (Holbrook) Stetson, born 15 June 1775 in Randolph, Massachusetts.^[1][2]

He was married to Betsey (Thayer) Sawin, daughter of Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Dyer) Thayer and widow of Benjamin Sawin, on 27 January 1808. ^[3][4]

Children of Zeba and Betsey Stetson, ^[4] all born at Randolph, were:^[5]

1. Martha Sullivan (Stetson) Grant, French, born 25 November 1808, married (1) Oct. 28, 1827 at Randolph, to Oliver Grant; ^[6]; (2) Charles B. French, 17 May 1855. ^[7]
2. Elbridge Gerry Stetson, born 4 November 1810
3. Lewis Thayer Stetson, born 25 April 1813
4. Bradford, born May 25, 1815, married Mary Hodgdon of New Hampshire.
5. Caroline E., born 24 March 1817, marriage intentions recorded 28 September 1834, with Samuel C. Veazie.
6. Jabez Sawen, born 14 June 1819.
7. Polly, born 1822, married on Oct. 26, 1850 to William H. Farnum.
8. Hannah, born 1824, married William Canterbury of Boston.
9. Susan Ann, born January 1826, marriage intentions recorded 10 December 1843 with John P.D. Wilkins. She died May 16, 1846.
