Mabel Stevens ... Mabel was born in Mitchell, Ontario in 1881. At the time her father was working as a baker, but by 1891 he was now a Baptist minister. The family moved around S.W Ontario depending on where her father had a church posting. After her mother's death, and father's remarriage in 1910, Mabel lived in Ottawa. On the 1911 census of Canada, she was listed as a stenographer employed by an insurance company. Sometime after this she and her sister Jennie moved out to Calgary, Alberta where they worked as secretaries. Two of their brothers George and Frank had previously relocated to Alberta. Norman, the youngest sibling eventually joined them after completing high school in Wisconsin where he had been living with his father. Mabel met, and married Lloyd Phillips in November 1919. She lived in Calgary for the rest of her life. She had three children.
Mabel passed away in 1957 as a result of Congestive heart failure A Death Notice placed in the Calgary Herald on Dec 10 1957 read December 8th Mabel Phillips beloved wife of Mr.Lloyd Phillips. Services at St.Barnabas Anglican church Wednesday at 1pm. She is buried in Queen's Park Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta.
