Biography

Nancy R Stevens was born on July 14, 1855 [1] in Williamsport, Lycoming, Pennsylvania, USA. [2][3] Her parents were Wm H Stevens and Juliana A Fulmer.

At age 14, Nancy and her family lived in Center, Cedar County, Iowa, USA. [4] By the time she was 23, the family had moved to Coon Valley, in Sac County, Iowa. [5]At age 36, she is still living with her parents, this time in Dallas County, Iowa. (It is noted she is indicated as "Insane" but not committed at this time). [6]

In 1900, at 44-45 years of age, she was still living with her parents, in Spring Valley, Dallas County, Iowa. [1]

In the 1905 Iowa Census, two years after her father's death, Nancy is 49 years old and living in Sac City, Sac County, Iowa, USA. [2][3] It mentions her occupation as "Housework".

Her sister Olive J. Burbeck (Julia O.) , Olive's second husband Ahira Burbeck, nieces Ethel and Lila Hayden, are living in the same town at this time.[7]

Nancy passes from this life on January 7, 1906, while a resident of the Cherokee State Hospital in Cherokee, Cherokee County, Iowa, USA. Her age was 50 years, 5 months, and 24 days. Her death certificate indicates the cause of death was due to asphyxiation during epileptic convulsions. It mentions her former residence was in Sac County, Iowa, and her burial took place January 8, 1906. Her former occupation was "Domestic". She never married. It also mentions that she suffered from Epilepsy for 40 years.[3]
