DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Stevens-3631 and Stevens-2876 appear to represent the same person because: I cam across these two profiles and saw they were they same, compare them and merge them.
This Stevens and Stevens-2876 are the same person, the only difficulty in merging them being that Stevens-3631 is linked to Mary Bartlett as a spouse which is an error. This John Stevens married Ruth Poor which can be amply demonstrated with probate records. The Joseph Stevens linked as his son is not a son of John Stevens (1663-1728).
John Stevens born 30 August 1663 and died 7 November 1728 (in his 66th year) was married to Ruth Poor and only Ruth Poor. This can be demonstrated by the will of John Stevens of Andover written in 1722 with probate 24 November 1728. In his will, John Stevens has bequests to his dearly beloved wife Ruth, daughter Hannah the wife of Samuel Lovejoy, daughter Mary wife of Benjamin Austen, and "all the rest of my daughters" Ruth, Priscilla, Martha, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Lidia Stevens, second eldest son Timothy, and eldest son John who is also executor. (Essex County, MA: Probate File Papers, 1638-1881.Online database. AmericanAncestors.org. New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2014. Case 26358) John Stevens and Ruth Poor married 20 December 1689 and had a total of eleven children. Ruth Poor died 19 February 1738/9.
