Biography

NOTE: He was NOT born in Newbury; he was NOT the son of John Stevens and Catherine Codman. The Thomas Stevens who was born 28 Dec 1651 was born in BOSTON, son of Thomas Stevens and wife Sarah.[1] He was not this Thomas either. Savage says he died young. [2]

Thomas was probably born about 1650 at Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts to unknown parents. [3][2]

Marriage

Thomas married Martha Bartlett on 15 April 1670 in Newbury, Massachusetts. [4]

Thomas' will dated 29 November 1723, proved 28 April 1729, mentions sons Roger and Thomas, grandchildren of Martha (deceased): Hannah and Abigail Hoyt, other unnamed children, and son (in-law) Abel Merrill. [5][10]

Thomas passed away on 14 April 1729 at Amesbury, Massachusetts. [6]

The Thomas Stevens who was born and died in Boston is the wrong Thomas. Thomas spent most of his life in Amesbury and died there. Vital Records of Amesbury, http://ma-vitalrecords.org, has births, marriages, and deaths for many of his children as well as he and his wife's deaths. Information for the Boston Thomas should be removed and the parents given as unknown.
