1681 Abial was born 4 Jun 1681 in Andover, Essex, Massachusetts, parents John Stevens and Esther Barker.^[2][3][4]

1707 Abial married Deborah Barker 19 Mar 1707, Andover, Massachusetts.^[5]

When Abiel was about age 17, there was an Indian raid on the town of Andover. Abiel Abbot in his History of Andover reports that Abiel was taken by the Indians but Abiel “feigned himself lame and kept behind” and as the Indians hastened to avoid any pursuers, Abiel was able to make his escape.^[6]

On 6 March 1749 (recorded 28 March 1750), Abiel granted about eight acres in Andover to his son David for parental love and good will. On 28 February 1749/50 (recorded 30 November 1750), for love and good will, Abiel granted to his son Abiel half the dwelling house, half the barn, and all the lands in Andover.^[7]

In his will written 11 June 1763 (proved 2 February 1768), Abiel bequeathed to dearly and well-beloved wife Deborah, all the money, bonds, and notes and the household goods to be at her disposal. She also receives one-half the produce of the tillage lands to be brought to her by the executor during her widowhood. She also receives one-third of the produce of the orchard and the use of two good cows. Son John receives £1.6.8 which completes his full portion. Three daughters each receives £1.6.8: Deborah the wife of Aaron Stevens, Mary widow of Benjamin Lee, and Susanna wife of Jacob Hoit. Grandchildren children of son Nathan deceased receive £1.6.8 to divide. Grandson Nathan receives the gun. Granddaughter Lucy daughter of son David deceased receives one cow. Granddaughter Nabby daughter of David receives five shillings, four pence. Son Abiel receives all the lands and buildings in Andover, all the personal estate, and is named executor.^[8]
