Status in 1940 census (Santa Cruz, CA) is widowed (Dorothy Mcfarland, recorded incorrectly by census enumerator?). Records Dorothy as daughter's name also. Second (or last) husband: Bill Purdin, married 1956, showing 4 prev marriages on certificate. Maiden name recorded as Betty Dane Stevens.
His birthday is May 10 according to back of another photo.

Research Notes

Very little data for her post 1910 census when she was 11. Picture of her and Sallie in 1967. Spelled Beaulah on back of photo.
From back of old photos: First husband appears to be - Obrie(?) McFarland.
Son: Jarvis McFarland. Family photo shows Frank Stevens(Betty's brother) and Jarvis(Betty's son) together, Labelled 1940's. Jarvis in Navy whites.

No other indication that her middle name was Dane as shown on second marriage record, although signature on children's OK school records has Dane.
Bettye McFarland listed as Parent/Guardian in Oklahoma school record( Mangum, Ok) 1933-1934 for Aveline McFarland(dob 7 Mar 1925), Dorothy Luper(dob 16 Feb 1916), Jewel Wheeler(dob 10 Feb 1915). Signed 20 Jan 1934, by Betty-Dane Mcfarland as Parent or Guardian.
