Funeral, Mr. Stevens

Funeral services for Charles E. Stevens, 88, 29 Fairfield ave., who passed away on Christmas morning at his home following a long illness, will be held this afternoon at 2 from the late home with Rev. Phillips Brooks Warner, rector of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Darien.

Mr. Stevens was one of the early settlers of Bell Island where he made his home for over 40 years. He was especially known for his originality in the construction of many white cobblestone walls on the island and around the DeKlyn estate at Pine Point. Real estate was Mr. Stevens' last business interest before he retired in 1931.

In addition to one son, Charles F. Stevens; one daughter, Mrs. Addie F. Weed, both of this city; two brothers, Samuel Stevens of New Jersey and Arthur Stevens of Darien and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Bartram of Glenbrook. Mr. Stevens is survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
