DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Alan by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Alan:

Hi Alan, I believe we may have spoken years ago. I'm back trying to figure out all my ancestors and such. I looked at our genealogical relationship and it looks like we are 5th cousins. :) Can we merge trees or something since we have apparently 19 common ancestors? Thank you! Hope to hear back soon. I'm just filling in blanks as I find them. Still a bit of an amateur. 🤷‍♀️😊

According to your page, you pick up the line at Edward John Stevens.

I see that you have done that research from that point down. Are there any specific profiles that you want to merge?

posted by Alan Stevens
If there is anything merge-able not merged, yes please. Trying to be as accurate as possible of course.

Also, by saying I've done research from 'that point down' do you mean back in time by down or more recent? I was a foster child so any bit of info I have correct is a huge win for me, putting the pieces together of our family history. I have found some Stevens cousins in Canada that are helpful but I don't think they've joined Wikitree. They just answer my questions if they can and gave me copies of pictures. I am grateful for that of course! They've been great. :)

I'm looking for descendants of the historic Thaddeus Stevens, namely his brothers Joshua Jr., Abner and Alanson. Thaddeus had no children, so his brothers may be the only hope to find living relatives of my husband, Frank Thad Stevens, Jr.

Thank you, Kay Stevens

Are you looking for Thaddeus Henry Stevens (Stevens-9033). I am not aware of Abner, Joshua or Alanson.

My Thaddeus was the editor of the Moncton Times, so I would look there for more info. Also, the New Brunswick archive has lots of searchable info.

What are the dates for the Thaddeus you are looking for?

You're right about Benjamin Bennett being born in Lyme CT not NS. I've fixed that on his Wikitree page.

For Susannah Bray, I have her listed in James Bray's will as Susannah Matthews. The wedding date was already on the profile, but there was so much wrong, I'm trying to fix it. I'll remove the dates until I can find a source.

Hi!

How are you? I'm Guy a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

Check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

When creating profiles, remember to add where you found the information. See: Sources

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Guy

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Also, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.

If you need help getting started, view this introductory WikiTree video. Also, check out the Help Index and the G2G forum. - Good luck growing your branches, Patt -

this sounds interesting. I have a good line on my fathers family. They were Planters in Nova Scotia

Hi Alan, I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great information about GEDCompare, the process of adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree, that you might find helpful. Also, 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

Sources are very important, so please be sure to include the sources used, on each profile you add.

It is a good idea to enter a few of your ancestors manually, to get used to how WikiTree works. Then, you could upload a small portion of your tree, with a gedcom, to see how that works. There is always editing needed after a Gedcom import, so fewer profiles makes the task easier.

Hello & Welcome, to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile per person.

"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from." Feel free to ask questions at our G2G forum. Also, our help pages menu, top right, has some very useful information. Our Honor Code is why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree, so please take some time to read it. Want to join us? Check the volunteer box and leave a brief comment about your genealogical journey. Happy researching!
