Biography

This Thomas most likely born to Joseph and Deborah Stevens in 1715 and corresponds to person #101 ( on page 22) in the "Genealogy of the Descendants of John Stevens" written by Charlotte Steevens Holmes and published in 1906. I would like to change his birth date and disconnect him from the current parents now assigned and connect him to Joseph (stevens-7987) and Deborah (stevens-14406). In addition to published information, I have my own "Stevens" DNA test which indicates that this Thomas is not a descendant of Henry Stevens (1656-1726) as previously shown.

Note: Two different Thomas Stevens were married to two different Abigails in Connecticut, and they were conflated in this profile. The Middletown man, Thomas Stevens married Abigail Brown and had 5 children in Middletown. Those children have been disconnected from this profile. The Plainfield man who remains in this profile presumably married Abigail Cooper(?), and they had 6 children in Killingly. The two Thomas's may be cousins, further research needed to show that. Further complicating the issue is that the Stephens-Stephens genealogy book (p. 31) has him as the man who married Elizabeth Wine/Wynne in 1728. Halsey Bullen

Thomas was born to Thomas Jr. and Mary Hall Stephens in Plainfield on 30 December 1705. He was their second of that name, the first, born in January 1703-4, presumably died in infancy.[1]

Thomas and Abigail had, in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut Colony:[2]

  • Penewell, b. 1 Aug 1739
  • Abigail, b. 26 Mar 1741
  • Amy, b. 11 Apr 1742
  • Thomas, b. 10 Mar 1745
  • Louis, b. 13 Mar 1749
  • Daniel, b. 4 May 1753
