Albert's birth was recorded in 1866 in the district of Watford, Hertfordshire, England. [1]
In 1881 Albert was a 14-year-old journeyman butcher living with the master butcher Edmund Atkins in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. [2]
In 1899 Albert married Ada Annie Wheeler in the district of Paddington, Middlesex. [3]
The 1901 census shows them living on the High Street, Camberwell, London. [4]
- head Albert J Stevenson, age 33, running an off license, born in Sarratt, Hertfordshire
- wife Ada A Stevenson, age 23, born in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire
Albert and Ada moved to Canada. The 1911 census found them living in Battleford, Saskatchewan. [5]
- head Albert James Stevenson, age 45, farmer, born in England
- wife Ada Annie Stevenson, age 34, born in England
- daughter Irene Stevenson, age 4, born in England
Interestingly, next door to the Stevensons we find James and Frederic Wheeler, also born in England -- the logical conjecture is that Ada's family accompanied Albert and Ada in their migration.
Albert, Ada and Irene were still to be found in Battleford in 1926. [6]
