Notes
Note N69Callie Price Stevenson was named for General Calhoun and General Price, whom her parents had a great deal of admiration for.
Callie Price enjoyed writing poetry before she was married. She kept several of her poens, and they were among the things my grandfather kept of hers. I'll attach copies of two of them.
After her husband's death, Callie continued living on the farm in the Pairie Home community north of Liberty with her son, Arthur. When Arthur married Kathleen Galvin, Kathleen moved in with her husband and mother-in-law. According to her granddaughters (Evelyn, Lucille, & Emma), Callie was a very difficult woman to live with. They describe her as "a very selfish person and had no respect for anyone but her son Arthur", and Emma says she doesn't recall ever seeing her smile.
At the time of her death in 1932, they lived on Laura Street (second house off North Missouri Street on the north side).
