James Stewart was born in 1568 in Fife, Scotland. He was the son of James Stewart and his wife Margaret Campbell.
He became the Jure Uxoris Earl of Moray in 1581 in light of marriage to his wife and the 2nd Lord of Doune in 1590
Moray quarelled with George Gordon, 1st Marquess of Huntly, and on 7 February 1592 Huntly attacked and burned Donibristle. Moray attempted to flee but was caught and killed. [1]
On 23 Jan 1580 James Stewart was married to Elizabeth Stewart.
