Robert Stewart was born in 1806 in the town of Rothesay, on the Isle of Bute, off the coast of Scotland,[1]to John and Catharine (McConachy) Stewart.[2][3]
His first wife seems to have been Isabella Jamieson.[4]
He was a widower on 22 Jan 1856, listed as a warehouseman, when he married Agnes Ballingall in Tradeston, Glasgow, Scotland.[5][6] From their marriage record we see that Robert ("Rob") was 47, Agnes (Agness) was 35, they were both residing t 20 Centre Street, Glasgow, where they were married, that his parents were John Stewart (deceased) and Kathleen McConnechy (deceased), and hers George Ballingal (deceased) and Agnes Brownlie. Robert Ballingall and Martha Stewart were witnesses.
In 1856, Robert and Agnes had their first child, Katie Stewart.[7]
Their remaining children were born in Canada and the United States.
He Died 1873 and is buried in Harvard Grove Cemetery, Cleveland.[8]
