Orven was born in 1903 to Luther Stewart and Sarah Simmons . In 1910, the family was living in Natchitoches, Louisiana.[1]
His mother married Isaac Stephens after Orven's father (Luther) died. In 1920, he was living with his step-father, mother, and siblings in Athens, Claiborne, Louisiana.[2] His name was transcribed as Owen but is actually Orven on the original census.
Orven married Blanchard "Blanche" Estelle Pope.[3] In 1930, they were living in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, where he was working as a laborer in the oil fields.[4] They were still there in 1940. His occupation was listed as "pumper" in the oil fields.[5]
Orven registered for the WWII draft. At the time he and his wife were living in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was working for the Triangle Drilling Company in Shreveport, Louisiana. Orven signed his name as O. O. Stewart.[6]
In the 1950 census Orvin (age 47) was the married head of household in Richland, Louisiana, United States.[7]
After he passed away in 1980 In Ferriday, Concordia Parish, Louisiana[8], he was buried in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi. [9]
