David A Stewart was born in 1842 to James Stewart and Harriet Woodall probably in what is now Harnett County, North Carolina. He enrolled with the Confederate States of America in 1861 and died of disease in 1862 in Richmond, Virginia. He never married.
Residence 1850: Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States as David A Stuart (8) in household of James Stuart (38) with Harriet Stuart (28) and John Stuart (5).[1] Present day Harnett County, North Carolina was formed from Cumberland County in 1855. The residence may not have changed.[2]
Residence 1860: Harnett County, North Carolina, United States as D A Stewart (18) in household of Jas Stewart (45) with Harriet Stewart (38) and J R Stewart (15)[3]
Enrolled for active service 1861: 1st Artillery (10th State Troops) Company A [4][5] Organized in Raleigh, June 1861.
Hospitalized June 8, 1862 in Chimborazo Hospital No. 1 in Richmond, Virginia with typhoid fever. Died: June 14, 1862 at age 20. Settlement filed by father James Stewart on February 12, 1863 [6]
