The article "Order of the Garter" claims John was also a son of Janet [6] although SP indicates that only William can be confidently identified as her son rather than a son of the first wife.[1]

Noted as a child by the first wife as there is another William who was certainly a child of the second wife.

Please review Scotland's Reliable vs Unreliable Sources page. 'Burke's Peerage' and 'ThePeerage', both of which you are quoting above are considered Unreliable. Both may have some information that is also in 'The Scots Peerage', which is considered reliable.
Balfour Paul's volumes 4 and 5 of Scots Peerage, cited in this profile, both reference Alexander Stewart's marriages, with only the date of the second marriage stated as "after" 1381 in volume 4. Although Marguerite Turnbull Stewart allegedly died after 1383, it is not cited in her profile and I found no evidence that confirms this date, so at this point it cannot be assumed credible. If, however, a source can be located with deeper digging that confirms Marguerite’s death as occurring in 1383, then one must rely on Balfour Paul's statement that Alexander’s second marriage occurred AFTER 1381, which could mean at some point following the death of his first wife. It is also possible, but highly unlikely, that Alexander and Marguerite divorced and she lived beyond the date of his second marriage, but again, nothing can be stated as fact without credible sources/citations.
Am confused by M Turnbull dying after 1383 and J Keith marrying Alexander Stewart 1381. Are there any records of divorce for the first marriage. It sort of looks like she might have died with the twin pregnancy in 1380? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
