Biography

John Stewart is a member of Clan Stewart.

John Stewart (11th of Blackhall & Ardgowan) was born about 1614. John Stewart was the son of Sir Archibald Stewart (10th of Blackhall & Ardgowan) and his wife Margaret Blair.

He died before 1658. as such he did not succeed to the Lordship of Blackhall & Ardgowan.

Marriage

In 1633 he married Mary Stirling, daughter of Sir James Stirling of Keir.

"Archibald [11th Laird of Blackhall & Ardgowan] and Margaret had six children—four sons, named John (the heir) [12th Laird of Blackhall and Ardgowan], Archibald, Walter, and James, who were born one each year from about 1614 to 1617...

"On 23 August 1633, Archibald’s eldest son and heir John married Maria Stirling, daughter of Sir George Stirling of Keir. They had seven sons and two daughters. The family line was continued to the present day through their second son Archibald, who was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia in 1667—the first of his line. By an arrangement similar to the settlement of 1574, John was infeft in the family estates in the lifetime of his father by a charter dated 29 March 1634. However, John predeceased his father by about nine years, dying on 1 December 1656, after which his son was designated as heir in his place."

John Stewart (dvp before 1658) married Mary Stirling (dau of Sir James Stirling, younger of Keir) in 1633.

His parents were Sir Archibald Stewart of Blackhall (d 1665) who married Margaret Blair (d 08.1621, dau of Bryce Blair of that ilk) in 1613.

The children of Sir Archibald and Margaret were as follows: John, Archibald, Walter, Annabel and Margaret.

John and Mary had seven children.

This is the wrong Elizabeth Stewart that is listed as the wife of John Stewart-15478. This Elizabeth died in 1591 before John was even born.
Stewart-33933 and Stewart-15478 appear to represent the same person because: same father and dates, part of a duplicate lineage
