Biography
This profile is part of the Stewart Name Study.
Duncan was born in Croft Carnoch in the parish of Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland and baptised in that parish on May 24, 1747. He is the son of Alexander Stewart and Christian Stewart.[1]
He was planning to marry Elspeth Douglas of Duntaulich, Dull parish and got as far as posting the banns before either he, or his intended, got cold feet and called it off.
He married Isobel McLaughlan on December 25, 1770 in parish of Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland. Duncan's homestead was "Croftcarnoch" and Isobel's was "Carrick".[2]
