Biography

1. Wentworth Stewart, born (as by his own entry on the Gorham Me, town records) 10 October 1731 and was "of Berwick, Me.: 23 January 1753 as by deed from James Gilkey; purchased land in Gorham, Me. that year and lived there; was Town Clerk, Selectman, Representative in 1773 and '4; was lieutenant in 1757, in Capt. Joseph Woodman's company of six months' men raised in that vicinity for the French war; was Captain in the army of the Revolution, and died in Sewall's Point, Mass. He married, 4 February 1753, Susanna, daughter of Rev. Solomon Lombard, the first settled minister of Gorham, Me.; she was born 14 August 1734, and married 2d, 4 March 1779, William Wood, of Gorham, Me. Wentworth Stewart had:

1. Mary Stewart, born 20 January 1754; married. 3 July 1770, John Green
2. Susanna Stewart, born 21 May 1757, died 4 January 1759
3. Joseph Stewart, born 3 April 1759; married 30 September 1779. Hannah Smalley.
4. Solomon Lombard Stewart, born 13 February 1762; died 29 December 1763
5. Sarah Purrinton Stewart, born 25 February 1764 married 20 May 1871 Ebenezer Phinney.
6. Dorcas Stewart, born 8 June 1766; married 17 August 1787, ; married Peletiah McDonald.
7. Susanna Stewart, born 1 April 1768; married 4 January 1786, Francis Brooks of North Yarmouth, Me.
8. Wentworth Stewart, born 17 August 1770; married, 4 November 1790, Hannah Shaw. A Wentworth Steward married Nancy, daughter of Isaac and Anna (Whitney) Hall, born 16 Oct 1798.
9. Solomon L. Stewart born 24 February 1773
10. Anna Stewart, born 31 October 1775; married 17 November 1791, Nathaniel Stevens, Jr. [1][2]
