Note
Note: Jacob Stewart served in the War of 1812. The Will of Jacob Stewart
dated September 16, 1841 and probated August 11, 1851 in Jackson
County, Missouri names daughters Elizabeth Aid, Rachel Burgess, Sally
Anderson and Polly Yoacham and a boy "now living with me by the name
of William Stewart" who is to have an equal part with his children. A
codicil dated August 11, 1849 mentions the same children but omits the
name of William Stewart. The executors of the estate of Jacob Stewart
were George W. Anderson and Henry Burgess. A biography of Mathew
William Anderson in the United States Biographical Dictionary states
that Jacob Stewart was a native Virginian. The 1850 Census says he was
born in New Jersey. The boy by the name of William Stewart was the son of
Isaiah Stewart and his first wife, Jane McCullough.
