Elizabeth Stewart was the daughter^[1] of John Stewart, 4th Earl of Atholl and Lady Elizabeth Gordon. She was married 3 times, and she died in September 1595 'miserable'.^[2]

Marriages

She married firstly, by contract Hugh Fraser, 5th Lord Lovat on 24 December 1567 and both were married while underage.^[3]. She married, secondly, Robert Stuart, 6th Earl of Lennox, Earl of March, Lord of Dunbar, son of John Stewart, 3rd Earl Lennox and Elizabeth II Stewart; they were divorced on 19 March 1581 due to his impotence.^[4] She married, thirdy, James Stewart, 1st Earl of Arran, son of Andrew Stewart, 2nd Lord of Ochiltree and Agnes Cunningham, on 6 July 1581.
