I read an article in the Daily Telegraph stating that 45% of descendants of the Surname Stewart have Royal Ancestry. that was my inspiration in 2012. I started indexing families from my wife's Murray chart. Initially to WikiTree. And secondly, Ancestry and My Heritage, the benefit of which is the ability to cross-reference my indexing. And surprisingly, After I indexed the final vitals of my wife's uncle, William Stuart Reid. in Family Tree, Maker I learned that I was also a half-cousin 15 times removed. Final tracing led me back to 14th Century Norman England. This confirms my Ancestry as a descendant of Walter Stewart (FitzAlan) the Hereditary 3rd High Steward of Scotland who changed his surname to Stewart, based on his occupation.

Hi Doug,

Re: Holtsbaum

I have come across some information on two of the Holtsbaum girls, Ellen and Charlotte. I thought you might be interested. It lists their spouse and their family.

Ellen : https://winters-online.net/sharon-haggerty-db/g1/p794.htm#i19837

Charlotte: https://winters-online.net/sharon-haggerty-db/g1/p618.htm#i15436

I have taken on adding to Jasper Holtsbaum's profile because, co-incidentally, I added his son to a website just the day before. I do not adopt them because I have adopted enough files. I do enjoy trying to add to files that need adoption.

Regards,

Margaret Cranley (Cranley-15)

I was using direct source of births. No doubt the name John can be filled in from later records but there was no first name recorded at birth. It might help to ask someone experienced on RF how to handle that. The last name at birth was definitely spelled Farnum. This isn't my line. I Descend from Ralph the son of Ralph & Alice.

WikiTree requires parents and spouses of a person to be merged or matched before merging duplicate profiles for that person. If the children have the same sets of parents, they will be easy to merge. It is best to do it before merging the fathers or mothers. Does that answer your question?

Hi Doug,

Thank you for helping eliminate duplicate profiles here on WikiTree.

As a reminder, please be sure to edit the biography once you have done the basic merge, so that the result is a final, integrated biography. Here is a link to information about merging and cleaning up afterwards: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Matching_and_Merging_FAQ#What_happens_after_a_merge.3F

Thank you, Sharon - WikiTree Ranger
