In the 1810 Census of Mason Co. the Aleshire family is shown to have one male child under 10. Benedict Aleshire's will dated 1810 and probated in Point Pleasant WV names his wife, children and grandchildren and William Stewart (see p.35 of Hardesty)

William married Martha Ann VanSickle, daughter of Anthony and Rebecca (VanMeter) VanSickle. Among their children are:

  • John
  • Julia, m. Peter Hawkins

Kuns age 4 and Rebecca Oliver, age 50.[5] In the 1860 census, a child age 15 by the name of William is in the home (?) and also a couple named Mary and Morris George. In the 1870 census are William and Martha, son Joseph age 22 and a domestic named Anna Rainey, age 18, and a child, William White who is age 41 years. (This Anna Rainey is actually Anna Raines who married William's grandson, John R., son of William Jr. on August 28, 1870. William White is the son of William's daughter Zelphia who married Cornelius White.)[6]

William and many of his children are buried in the Stewart cemetery at the old town of Maggie. These graves may have been moved from their original site in the existing TNT area to present site which was once know as the Doctor Bennett cemetery.
