John "Jack" Stewart was born on 21 August 1885 at 31 Thimble Row, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. He was the son of Peter Forbes Stewart and his wife Mary Anne Elizabeth Gallacher.

He 1st travelled to Canada in 1904 travelling from Glasgow, Scotland to Quebec, Canada.

He died on 2 April 1976 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada and was buried in the Mervin Cemetery, Mervin, Lloydminster Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
