Sir David Stewart, 1st Laird of Rosyth was born about 1388 in Rosyth, Fife, Scotland. He was the the son of Robert Stewart[1] and his wife Janet MacDougall.[2]
He married Margaret Dundas (1394 -1433) the daughter of James Canmore Dundas and his wife Christian Stewart, Countess of Dundas about 1412.[citation needed] They had issue:
Henry Stewart.[3] 2nd Laird of Rosyth. b. 1414 - d. after 1458 .
David died on 10 April 1444[1][4] in Falkland Palace, Scotland. He was starved to death in prison on the order of his uncle Albany, in Scotland to keep him from being King of Scotland.

The David Stewart who died in Falkland Palace is not this one. That would be Stewart-1855 (the Duke of Rothesay, 1378-1402, and the son of the Scots King).
