We have not been able to document that this Judith is a Stidham; however, most Gilliam researchers list her as a Stidham. It has been said that her husband, Richard Gilliam's brother or cousin may have been the Epaphroditus Gilliam listed in the 1790 Wilkes Co., North Carolina census (home of Samuel Stidham). This is not correct, the Epaphroditus Gilliam of Wilkes County, is the son of John Gilliam of Albemarle County per John's Will.
Judith may have been the daughter of Adam Stidham. Robert Lamb of Dunwoody Georgia says she is daughter of Samuel. However, there is another Judith who married Nathan Lewis, and the dates for her make her the more logical candidate for daughter of Samuel. [1]
Judith may have been the daughter of William Stidham. [2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Judith by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Judith:
Stidham-975 and Stidham-1 appear to represent the same person because: their birth and death information are consistent, they share (duplicate files of) the same spouse and one son.
I think I am related to both Judith Stidhams. Dr Timen Stiddem was the original Stiddem/Stedham/Stidam to immigrate from Denmark or Sweden. His son Adam had a son Christopher who had a son Adam Stedham (1719). It looks like Judith and Samuel were both children of Adam. Judith's (1771) daughter Mary Polly gilliam's daughter Juda Branham married Samuel's daughter Judith's (1789) son, Andrew Jackson Lewis. So AJ Lewis and Juda Branham were first cousins once removed.
