George Stiles was born about 1830 at Kent, England. He was the son of Edward Stiles and Harriett (Pooley Foreman) Stiles. George married Patience Clapham on 24 Nov 1851 at Wesleyan Methodist Church, West Maitland, Australia.
George and Patience Stiles lived at Maitland [NSW] , Warwick [QLD] & Glen Innes [NSW] and had a large family of 12 children.
On 29 October 1895, George Stiles was accidentally killed by a tree falling on him at Glen Elgin, some 25 miles east of Glen Innes. He was a strong, active man, aged 65 years, at the time of his death.[1]
George Stiles is buried in the Wesleyan Section at Glen Innes Cemetery & his date and place of birth is recorded on his Memorial Cross.
