Biography
Margaret Arminta Stiles was born on November 11, 1902, in Hooper, Dodge, Nebraska, to Lester Burt Stiles and Dolly Legg. She had an annulled marriage before her marriage to Willard Berdell Alton on September 9, 1921, in Alameda California; at the time, they were living at 1206 104th Avenue in Oakland.[1] She was re-married to John Hamilton McCourtney, on September 12, 1927,[2] and was living with him and her son by Willard, Duane at the time of the 1930 census, when they were living at 5347 Golden Gate Avenue in Oakland, Alameda, California.[3] By 1940, she had a son by John, named Jack, and was living with the two of them on Merritt Avenue in Oakland, Alameda, California.[4]
She died on February 3, 1988, in Contra Costa, California.[5]
