Biography

Barney Stiles was the son of Josiah Stiles. He was born at Sutton, Mass. He married Cornelia Clisbee of Amsterdam, NY, in November 1806. Barney was a manufacturer of scythes. Their children were:

1. Divan, born May 23, 1807, drowned when 3 years of age
2. Anson Gale, born June 7, 1809 and married Anne Jane Waters
3. Clarissa Clisbee, born July 28, 1811. She married B.V.S. Vedder of Schnectady, NY
4. Orson, born Jan 24, 1813. He married Frances L. Guernsey ^[1]
