Biography

Rachel was born about 1759. Rachel Stillwell ... She passed away about 1837. [1] Rachel was born in 1759 and she died in the fall of 1837. In 1820 her husband Henry Thomas request his pension payments to be transferred to Kentucky. He wrote that his wife was 61 years old which places her birth in 1759. The book Daniel Stillwell Thomas Family History details Daniel and his family's trip West to Utah. On page 4 is written "Daniel Stillwell Thomas was the son of Rachel Stillwell and Henry Thomas who was the son of Polly Harden and Owen Thomas of North Carolina." They are referred to again on page 10 in the statement "We now bade farewell to all kindred, which was a sad affair, especially to father and mother Thomas. They belonged to the Church but were too old to stand the Journey. Brother Woodruff had blessed them and said that they would yet stand in Zion. So they did for we sent for them and in the fall they came by water. They soon died and were buried side by side on Long Creek, Missouri. Father was a revolutionary soldier under Washington. He was 84 years old and Mother 78. This ends 1837" It is clear that Henry and Rachel were living with Daniel and his wife Martha Pane Jones Thomas at this time for about 20 years. Henry Thomas in 1820 requested his Revolutionary War pension be transferred from Tennessee to Kentucky because he now resides in Kentucky and the reason for his change in residence is that he and his wife were old and infirmed and lived with their youngest son who moved to Kentucky and they had to move with them. Stillwell-1174 and Stillwell-183 appear to represent the same person because: Jones-36644
Stillwell-183 looks to me to be a clear match.
