Stephen was born at Jamaica, Queens, Long Island, New York, on 27 Oct 1760. He was the son of William and Jane (Stringham) Stillwell, both of Jamaica, Long Island.[1]
He married Nancy Moore, who died at Poughkeepsie, New York, 2 Jul 1846.[1]
He was a soldier of the Revolutionary War.[1]
In 1804, he moved to Glasco, Ulster County, New York, where he operated a glass factory and iron foundry.[1]

He died at Stone Ridge, Ulster County, New York, 08 Feb 1847.[1]
