His friend Eli Coggshell introduced him to a school teacher, Olive Hockett, born Nov 15, 1864, whom he married on April 8, 1891 in the bride's home, West of Jonesboro, Grant County, Indiana. He passed away April 8, 1937 in Tampa, Florida.
