Mrs. Elisha E. Rogers, genealogist of Norwich, states she found proof in Norwich Deeds, that Joseph Baker of Norwich was the father of Susannah who married John Elderkin. Mrs. Rogers research papers on the BAKER family are on file in the Conn. Historieal Society Library (TAG. Vol. 41, pg. 104-5)
Susannah was living on 13 Mar 1753, as can be proven by the following affidavit of her son John Elderkin:
"John Elderkin of Norwich, in the county of New London, have received of my honored mother Susannah Avery of Groton in said county, as she is administrator on the estate of my honored father John Elderkin late of said Norwich, deceased, the sum of Fifty Two Pounds in personal estate which is in full mypart in the movable estate of my sd Father, Groton, the13 Mar. 1753"
Susannah survived her second husband, and was buried at Avery Hill, Ledyart, CT (formerly North Parish of Groton), where there is a marker for Christopher Avery, 1680-1753, and his Four Wives.
