GENEALOGICAL NOTE:

"by France, “The Towles Family of Virginia,” The Northern Neck Historical Society Magazine (1955) p. 440 correctly identifies John Stokeley and Elizabeth [Watkins-Bowen] as the parents of Ann Stockley, and observes that the name is also spelled Stokoley and Stokeley. Hiden: “Notes on Kay and Allied Families,” XX Tyler’s Quarterly Historical and Genealogical Magazine (1939) pp. 171 - 180, 243 - 250, reprinted in II Genealogies of Virginia Families (Tyler’s Qtly) (Baltimore 1981) p. 534 and Lyon Gardiner Tyler, Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, (Lewis Historical Publishing Company,

New York 1915 reprinted Baltimore 1998), 439 mistakenly say that Ann is the daughter of Francis Stokeley (whose will was proved in Northampton County, Virginia on 1/28/1656)."
