Biography

Hezekiah was born 27 May 1755 in Framingham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Hezekiah Stone and Ruth Howe.[1]

Elizabeth Ballord/Ballard and Hezekiah Stone filed marriage intentions in Oxford, Massachusetts in 1777. [2] They married 27 May 1777.

  1. Artemas, b. 10 Apr 1778; d. 10 Apr 1862; m. Isabella Manning.
  2. Sally, b. 11 Mar 1780; bapt. 21 Oct 1781; d. 20 Aug 1865; m. Nathaniel #Mason and lived in Sullivan, NH.
  3. Jesse, b. 12 Feb 1782.
  4. Moses, b. 28 Dec 1783; d. 11 Mar 1786.
  5. Moses, b. 2 Dec 1785; d. 25 Jan 1854; m. Eliza Fay.
  6. Betsey Valentine, b. 18 Jan 1789; d. 20 Apr 1873; m. Martin Stone (1778-1851) (son of Samuel Stone and Anna (Stacy)) and settled in Swanzey, NH.
  7. Nancy, b. 10 Apr 1791; d. 7 Apr 1840; m. Daniel Simonds.
  8. Ruth Howe, b. 25 (30) Jan 1793; d. 10 Nov 1860; m. Reuben Pratt.

He married (2) 12 Dec 1825, Polly Stone, widow of Shubael, his nephew.

Hezekiah passed away in 1834 and is buried in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. [4]

He operated a mill for some years which passed to his son, Artemas, nephew, Artemas, and great nephew, Samuel.

The History of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire has the following:

Hezekiah Stone, born May 27, 1755; died Jan 15, 1834. Married Elizabeth Gooch Ballard (sic), who died March 29, 1825 at 65 years old. He married second Polly, born Jan 31, 1770 (daughter of John adn Esther (Ball) Rogers, and widow of Shubael Stone. Polly died Mar 18, 1850 in Leominster Massachusetts. THey came from Framingham to Fitzwilliam about 1781 and setlled on Lot 8, Range 4. There are nine chidren listed. [5]
