Biography

James Washington Jones was born on October 30, 1881, in Morehead, Kentucky. He was the son of David Jones and Eliza Mynhier. He married Mollie Riddle on February 6, 1902, in his hometown. They had nine children during their marriage. He died on July 27, 1982, in Greenfield, Indiana, at the age of 100, and was buried in Green, Indiana.

James Jones, 100, 121 W Pierson St., died 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at Fountainview Place Nursing home after a long illness.

He was born in Kentucky Oct. 30, 1881 and resided in Fortville for 49 years. He retired from Guide Lamp Division of GM at Anderson.

Survivors include children, Worlie Jones, Route 2, Pendleton; Mrs. Vada Rockey, Greenfield; Mrs. Cora Gaston, San Antonio, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Services were 10 a.m. Friday at Ross-Fisher Funeral Home, Fortville, with the Rev. Jack Smith, Fortville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
