Nathaniel Stone was born sometime in April 1667 (based on his age at death), and baptized on April 26, 1672. He was sixth of twelve children born to Simon and Mary (Whipple) Stone of Watertown, Massachusetts. [10] [11] [12] [13][14] [15] [16]

On December 15, 1698, he married Reliance Hinckley , the daughter of Governor Thomas and Mary (Smith) (Glover) Hinckley of Barnstable, Massachusetts[11] [17] [12] [14] [15] [16], and their children included:

  1. Mary, born September 16, 1699[12], who married Barnabas Freeman, son of Samuel and Bathsheba (Lothrop) Freeman in 1734[14] [13] [15]
  2. Keziah, born April 18, 1701[12], who married Isaac Lincoln, son of David and Margaret (Lincoln) Lincoln in 1729[14] [13] [15]
  3. Reliance, born April 26, 1703[12], who married Joseph Paddock in 1725[14] [13] [15]
  4. Heman, born September 4, 1705[12], who married Temperance Sturgis and Lydia Gray[14] [13] [15]
  5. Nathan, born February 18, 1707/8[12], who married Judith Fox in 1734[12] and Mary Thatcher in 1751[12] [14] [13] [15]
  6. Thankful, born 1708/9[12], who married Capt Seth Bangs in 1756 as his second wife[14] [13] [15]
  7. Eunice, born June 23, 1711[12], who married David Bangs, son of Samuel and Mary (Hinckley) Bangs in 1731[14] [13] [15]
  8. Nathaniel, born November 29, 1713[12] , who married Mary Brown, daughter of Sylvanus[14] [13] [15]
  9. Achsah, born September 1, 1715[18][12] [14], who married Elijah Hersey [15] [13]
  10. Hannah, born June 30, 1718[12] , who died July 30, 1718[14] [15] [13]
  11. Hannah, born March 26, 1720[12] [14], who died June 7, 1720[13] [15]
  12. Huldah, born July 6, 1722, who died in 1727[12] [14] [13] [15]

Nathaniel was the first in his family to obtain an academic education. He graduated from Harvard College in 1690, and was ordained minister when he accepted the call to to serve the first Meeting House in Brewster in 1700. [13] [12] He served as the pastor in the this church for over 54 years. He took a second degree in 1725. [16]

Reverend Nathaniel Stone died February 8, 1755 at age 87 years, 10 months.[11][10] [12] [14] [13][16] [15][13] He is buried in the Old Burying Ground in Brewster, as are many other local notables of the time, including the Bangs and Crosby families. [19].

Stone-3789 and Stone-753 appear to represent the same person because: Per Stone Family History by J Montgomery Seaver (American Historical Genealgical Society) Rev Nathaniel Stone born 1667-1755 parents are Simon Stone and Mary Whipple, he married Reliance Hinckely and was a graduate of Harvard in 1690. They had 3 sons Herman 1705-1779, Nathan 1707-1781, Nathaniel 1713-1777. Stone-3789 is linked to wrong mother.
