Biography
Clarence Stone was known as Buck and is the biological father of Gracie. Beyond which he had no involvement. Gracie was to call only one man father and that was Shorty Campbell. Buck was said to always have money and a car. And to own a car in the 1917 and 1918 era was no simple task. This relationship developed to more than ‘talks on the porch swing’ and Cora fell pregnant in 1918. The story goes that Cora would have been happy to marry Buck, but his occupation created a barrier that Cora just could not cross nor condone. Seems Buck acquired his lavish life-style through, what was called during prohibition, bootlegging. The sale and distribution of illegal alcohol! He wouldn’t change and she elected to end the relationship. Buck went on to marry and lived out his years in Waurika, OK. Gracie never had any contact with Buck or his family.
