Disputed Origins

There are two Tabitha (Stone)'s appearing at the same approximate time. The Tabitha (Stone) in this profile was born to John and Anne Stone in 1655, in Sudbury, Massachusetts; a source for her birth record is shown in Sources section below. She married John Rice, as this profile indicates (and for which sources are provided), had eleven children with him, and was his widow at the time of his death.

There is also mentioned, but not proven, a Tabitha (Stone) who married Abraham Wheeler. While Abraham did marry a Tabitha, her last name is unknown as reported in many sources:

No birth records have been found for Tabitha "Stone" other than the Tabitha that is the subject of this profile. Likewise, no marriage records have been found for Abraham Wheeler marrying Tabitha "Stone" in Dedham, Massachusetts as some contend.

The following uncited sources show that Tabitha "Stone" was the wife of Abraham Wheeler, however, no source data to support them have been found:

  • International Genealogical Index
  • Pedigree Research File
  • Ancestral File

One source that may shed light on Abraham Wheeler's wife's surname has been mentioned, but has not yet found: The Wheeler Genealogy by Raymond David Wheeler, Vol. 3, pages 101, 104.

As a result of this research, Abraham Wheeler has been disconnected as a spouse from this profile for Tabitha (Stone), and children of this Tabitha and Abraham Wheeler will also be removed. A new profile for Tabitha (Unknown) Wheeler has been created.

Biography

Tabitha was the daughter of Deacon John Stone and Anne Rogers .[1]

She married John Rice, Sr. on 2 November 1674 in Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.[2]

They were the parents of:

  1. John Rice[3]
  2. Anna Rice[4]
  3. Deliverence Rice[5]
  4. Tabitha Rice[6]
  5. Prudence Rice[7]
  6. Abigail Rice[8]
  7. Edward Rice[9]
  8. Dinah Rice[10]
  9. Moses Rice[11]
  10. Tamar Rice[12]
  11. Aaron Rice[13]

There is some confusion on her mother: some unreferenced sources have also listed her as Anne Treadway.

Stone-871 and Stone-48 appear to represent the same person because: Good Day!

Earlier in the year I put off a match, but have now been asked to review it. It seems now to be more viable. So, if everyone agrees, may we proceed with the merge? Thank you, Lynden Raber Rodriguez

Stone-871 and Stone-48 do not represent the same person because: These profiles are now set as are rejected match.

There are problems with the spouse, Abraham's, relatives which may help shed light on the problem. See his profile for comments there.

Stone-871 and Stone-48 do not represent the same person because: Two different husbands at the same time just is not logical.
Stone-871 and Stone-48 appear to represent the same person because: Hello! It was suggested these two profiles might be ready to merge after being in an unmerged match for over a year. Please review them and if you agree they are the same, complete the merge.

Thank you, Lynden Raber Castle Rodriguez

The Unmerged Match with Stone-871 has been pending for over a year now. I don't see any conflicting information on these two profiles. Can we complete the merge, please? Anyone can remove the Unmerged Match and initiate a new merge. Thanks! Let me know how I can help. - Karen

Stone-48 and Stone-519 appear to represent the same person because: Same mother and father. Same birth and death dates and locations. Different husbands during apparently overlapping time periods, date unknown for Abraham Wheeler. Previously different mothers have been resolved.
