Biography

Lucy Pickering Stone was born at Salem, Massachusetts, at the close of June, 1815. She was the second daughter of John Stone and Catharine (Dodge) Stone to be thus christened, the first – born in 1807 – having died after only a little over one year, in September of 1808. The Lucy of this profile married, first, John Robinson, at Salem, on the 6th of June, 1839; widowed in 1846, she married, second – also at Salem – Dr. Samuel Johnson of Andover on the 1st of June, 1857. She was widowed a second time at Samuel's death in 1876.

Lucy died at Salem on the 9th of May, 1893; an image of the Salem gravestone she shares, at Harmony Grove Cemetery, with first husband John Robinson and an unnamed daughter lost in infancy, appears on her Find A Grave page (see Sources) and gives only her surname by that first marriage.

Stone-28939 and Stone-6174 appear to represent the same person because: The Lucy Pickering Stone born in 1807 was the first of two daughters by that name; she died at Salem on Sept. 17, 1808. The Lucy Pickering Stone who married John Robinson (and later, Dr. Samuel Johnson) was given an identical name to that of her lost elder sister. Please approve this merge, and I will create a separate profile for the lost infant. Thanks. (This family is related to me on my maternal side via the Pickerings, and I'm in the process of documenting that connection on WikiTree.)
