The McPhail family was living in Carvers Creek Township, Cumberland, Norther Carolina in 1880.[1] They were in Lumberton Township, Robeson, North Carolina, in 1900[2] and 1910.[3]
In 1920, Sarah was living with her sisters Nancy ("Nanny") as well as widowed Bell McPhail (listed as sister, but was she sister-in-law?) and 10-year-old Hubert (listed as son of head, which is Nancy) in Lumberton Township.[4] In 1930, it was just Sarah and Nancy in the house.[5] In 1940, they are joined again by Hubert.[6] In 1950, Sarah is alone.[7]
Sarah died at the age of 80 on 5 February 1955 in Lumberton.[8]

Stone-6857 and Mcphail-366 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates - the 1910 census has an error in the recording, not writing McPhail after recording sister Mary Stone's last name, who was living with her parents & siblings (as well as her son).
