Ruth Stone (833) is a woman of intelligence, one who observes and profits by the affairs of life which are continually passing before her. Not born to affluence, but to the better inheritance, to earn her bread by the labor of her own hands; and, faithfully in her sphere of life has she fulfilled her duty. She married Ransom Upham, a worthy industrious man, and in the County of Windham they have reared a healthy, industrious family. Emeline Upham (867) married P. Copeland, and lives in Putnam. Angeline Upham (900) married William Arnold; she lived but a few years, and passed away to the "better land." The husband, with two children, left in widowed loneliness married a sister of Angeline, Elmira M. Upham (901). They live in the Quinebaug valley at Fisherville, a few miles above Putnam, worthy, industrious and virtuous.
