DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Stone-12167 and Stone-8466 do not represent the same person because: Stone-12167 is a mixture of 2 separate William Stones and not a match. There is information mixed from Stone-1182 and Stone-8466 combined as one person and they are separate William Stones, and not even from the same Stone line.
Also there were 13 different William Stone's living during this era and yes this is a mixture of 2 Stone lines, I am descended from both William Stone -1185 and William Stone - 8466.
Sarah Howard in 1661 in Pittsylvania, Virginia
Note: Many trees have William's wife Sarah as Sarah Howard, some with her being the daughter of Francis Howard and some the daughter of Matthew Howard. I have totally eliminated Francis as her father since he was only 6 years old at the time of her birth and cannot find credible documentation that supports Matthew as her father.
Also, note that Howard may not even be her maiden name, this is only speculation based on may merged family trees with no credible sources for her maiden name.
It has also been speculated that her maiden name could be Lewis since the Lewis family was close to the Stone family and lived in the same area.
Anyone with credible sources regarding Sarah Stone's background and heritage, please feel free to contribute and share.
Cheryl...actually it is documented that he married a Virginia Howard - Sarah may have been a middle name or a nickname . There was also an Edmund Howard that I am speculating may be her father.
Which William Stone do you refer to Lorene, William Stone-1182 was married to Sarah. They are my 8th Great Grandparents. Through their son Joshua.

George Stone married Mary Vernon
Their son Colonel John Stone married Mary Nelson
Their son William Stone married Virginia Howard
Their son Joshua Stone married Mary Coleman in 1748
William Stone had a daughter who married Thomas Glasscocke. The relationship is determined by the will of William Stone because he mentions his grandchildren in the will but not his daughter or her husband.
There is some confusion with the SAR#s in that one is for William Stone, while the other is for John Stone. I don't know how to fix that, but I didn't want to remove the Colonel's record either.
I found two sources for William Stone's date of death through FamilySearch.org, one of them (IGI). It verifies that DOD 13 Jan 1707. Could there have been some military skirmish he and his uncle both died in?
Stone-1182 has no known parents or siblings. Please try to develop the identity of this profile further by rechecking the dates and researching a possible spouse. If these parents are correctly connected, this profile is not the same person as Stone-1182
Stone-1182 and Stone-8466 are not ready to be merged because: On the recommendation of Paula, one of the leaders of the US Southeast Colonies, this merge is to be forestalled until there is a complete review of this line.
Stone-1182 and Stone-8466 appear to represent the same person because: These two profiles represent same person. One has more info than the other which should be integrated in merged profile
