Fact: Burial Stone Family Cemetery, Claude Stone Farm, Elk Creek, Grayson Co., VA
Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch William S. Stone was Mayor of Fredericksburg in 1801-1802. He was originally interred in the "Corporate Burial Ground" which was located where Hurkamp Park is today. When the Fredericksburg Cemetery opened in 1844 numerous burials were reinterred in the new cemetery, owing to the run-down condition of the old cemetery.
He is the only known veteran of the American Revolutionary War buried in the Fredericksburg Cemetery. In addition, he fought in the War of 1812.
