Dear Mother.

I have taken my pen in hand to inform you that I and Dennis is well at presant and hoping When those few lines comes to hand they will find you and the rest of the family injoying the same blessing Mother I have nothing of importance to rite you all the health of the regimen is tolerable good at this time and We are faring tolerable Well know but I dont know how long it will last for We are running Short of Money We havant never Drawn but twice sence We have ben in the Service but I think that We Will Draw be fore long Mother We got them pants and suspenders you Sent By Mr. Wm. Heshley Mother I dont Want you to send us any more clothes till Coal__ weather for We have got as many as We can carry Will know We are Camp at a little town on the Byow Llafourch By the name of Labdierville about ten miles from the Mississippi River and about twenty miles from Neworleans over Daverley had A figt at Donaldsonville yesterday and they Captured A transport and We Captured two scooners on the Bay last Weak had abot five hundred tun on them principlaly flour and Molasses and Bacon on them and a right Smart of Coffee Mother if I can git a chance to send you Some Coffee I Will By Some and Send it to you I Can git it for A Dollar A lb Mother I want you to rite to me as Soon as you git letter and le me know how you are gitting on and rite Wheather you have got a good Crop or not and tell James to rite for I think that he has All most forgot us for I havant got nary letter from him Since I left Natchitoches nor I havant got nare none from you in Coons age if you all new how much pleasure it Was to me to git A letter from home I think you Would rite evry Weeak _____ your letters to Thibodaux.Lafourch.Parish,La, So nothing more at presant only give my best respects to all of my conection and friends if you Can find any b____ S_____ and take the gratest potion of it yourself So nothing more at only I remain your affectionate Son, until Death,.
