Mary's father Richard Stout was an early English settler under Dutch rule in Gravesend, Brooklyn, Kings, western Long Island, ~1645-1657. Gravesend is now a neighborhood in south-central Brooklyn, along the shore of Gravesend Bay and Coney Island. In 1609 Henry Hudson landed his ship the Half Moon there at the island known by the natives as Narrioch (Coney Island). In 1643 Gravesend then became one of the original towns founded in the Dutch colony of New Netherland when Governor Willem Kieft granted a land patent to the Anabaptist Lady Deborah Moody, as a site where that English sect could settle free from religious persecution. Clashes with the natives delayed the town for two more years, until December 19, 1645.
Richard and Penelope Kent Van Princin Stout's daughter, Mary Penelope Stout has been named as Mary in most sources except for Nathan Stout who names her as Penelope.[1]
She was born about 1648. [2] The year of her birth was important for her to be
allotted land in the Middletown, Monmouth County, NJ settlement.[3]

Research Notes
James and Mary Penelope Stout Bowne are named as great (2) grandparents of Abraham Lincoln which is incorrect. They were his great uncle and aunt and he was descended from John Bowne, James' brother. The ancestral line is given here.[12]

Good morning, Sharon. I'm working on WikiTree's list of dateless, disconnected profiles and came across this one; do you have any data that would help place this person in time and geography? Thanks!
In the above biography, it says James Bowne, "son of William Bowne (and Ann Haverland)" however, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bowne-38 states that Ann Haverland was unlikely to be his wife. Since it is speculative (and addressed on William Bowne's profile), that parenthetical info should be removed.
Thanks for fixing that. I have also added a more detailed citation to the NYGBR article transcribing the Gravesend marriage record and corrected the date to 26 Dec 1665 based on that transcription.
Stout-136 and Stout-53 appear to represent the same person because: these profiles were in a rejected match, but they are both daughters of the same couple and have the same married name. Comments on Stout-136 seem to indicate that the profile should be merged away into this profile for Mary (Stout-53) b 1650
Who is this Penelope Stout? She is not on the list of accepted children for Richard (immigrant) and Penelope. Is there a source other than ancestry to support her existence.
This profile is a work-in-progress. Under the developing rules on historically-significant ancestors over 300-years-old supervisors are doing expedited merges. We need one manager to take primary responsibility for each profile. Management rights and/or trusted status may be terminated per policy. Please see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Historically-significant_ancestors for more details. Please feel free to contact me with any questions as well. Thanks!
Is that about right?
The problem was the maiden name was LNAB and was in current name. Switched them and edited profile and is Stout-53..
Sharon
Per the sibling David's bio, the family moved to Middleton, Monmouth, New Jersey in 1664.
So this will not be an NNS project profile.
