John Stout, son of James and Catherine Simpson Stout, born about 1713 and died June 7 1790. He married (1) Ruth Unknown who died the year they were married. [1] In 1734 he married (2) Rachel Merrill, daughter of William Jr and Sarah Parke Merrill, born June 15 1715 in Hunterdon County, NJ.

John Stout served in New Jersey during the American Revolution - Provincial Congress 1775. [2]

They were the parents of:

  1. Abraham m. (1) Elizabeth Houghton (2) Alice Houghton (3) Anne Stout,
  2. Amos died single of smallpox ,
  3. Aaron died young
  4. William died young
  5. Nathan m. (1) Catherine Holmes Hageman (2) Esther Ketcham

  7. Catherine m. James Stout
  8. Anne m. John Manners II
  9. Rachel m. Isaac Prall. [3], [4] (Three of his sons: Nathan, Moses and Abraham were Revolutionary soldiers of whom Nathan and Moses were officers. [5]
