Biography

Joab Stout, son of Abraham and Elizabeth Houghton, was the namesake of Col. Joab Houghton, his father's brother and nephew of Nathan Stout who wrote "The History of the Stout." [1] On March 25 1782 he chose Jediah Stout, husband of his sister Mary, as his guardian. On August 15 1790 Jediah paid Nathan Stout for Joab's board and Dr.John Anderson for his care when he had smallpox. [2]
