Maternal relationship is confirmed with an AncestryDNA test match between Roger Netz and Bill Talbott, third cousins. Predicted relationship reported by AncestryDNA: 3rd Cousins; based on sharing 113 cM across 6 segments; Confidence: Extremely High. Note that Roger Netz is descended from two children of their MRCAs Simon Peter Taylor and Sarah Mclain, making Roger and Bill double third cousins.
Paternal relationship is supported by a GEDmatch test match between Andrew Zellman GEDmatch AM3614953 and his fourth cousin, once removed Roger Netz GEDmatch A345614. Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 3.7, based on sharing 88.8 cM across 5 half-match segments. Their most-recent common ancestors are Archelaus Alloway Strange Sr. (1780-1852) and Elizabeth (Coffey) Strange (1782-1853), 4th-great-grandparents of Andrew Zellman, 3rd-great-grandparents of Roger Netz, and great-grandparents of Margaret (Strange) Taylor (1889-1979). This is insufficient for “confirmed with DNA” classification due to Andrew Zellman and Roger Netz being more distant than third-cousins. Additional cousins required to fulfill Triangulation requirements.
After Etheridge died in 1973, Grandmother Margaret became ill. My Mother, Frances Netz went to Portales New Mexico to care for her a while and returned to Iowa with Grandmother. She lived with us for approximately 6 years until she became ill again and went back to New Mexico where she passed. I was a pallbearer at her funeral.
